DAVAZ, KOMPAS.com – Pintu neraka sering dilukiskan dengan suasana api menyala yang sangat mengerikan panasnya. Kondisi seperti itulah yang terdapat di sebuah lubang api menganga di daratan Usbekistan, Asia Tengah. Maka lubang api itu pun disebut sebagai “pintu neraka”.

Lubang api itu berukuran sekitar dua kali lapangan bola dengan kedalaman lebih dari 30 meter. Semula ukurannya tidak sebesar itu sejak pertama kali tahun 1975 “pintu neraka” itu dijumpai manusia.

Awalnya ahli geologi menggali dengan alat berat untuk pengeboran gas alam. Anehnya, di lokasi itu ditemukan jurang besar di bawah tanah. Saking besarnya, semua peralatan untuk penggalian itu terperosok ke dalam.

Jurang itu dipenuhi dengan gas bumi yang beracun. Belum ada keterangan resmi Uni Soviet kala itu terkait berapa jumlah korban tewas akibat terkena gas beracun. Namun para ahli segera menyingkir dan semua peralatan yang terperosok itu ditinggal pergi.

Untuk menghindari gas beracun yang terlanjur terbuka ke langit bumi itu menyebar, para ahli memutuskan untuk membakarnya. Posisinya berada di dekat kota kecil bernama Davaz.

Praktis sejak 1975 lobang raksasa itu menyemburkan api seperti gunung berapi dan masih tetap menyala hingga kini walau sudah 35 tahun berlalu. Masyarakat sekitar tak ada yang berani mendekat karena pengaruh medan panas hingga beberapa ratus meter, sehingga dinamakan “pintu neraka”.

Sampai sekarang belum ada penjelasan apakah “pintu Neraka” itu ukurannya melebar atau stabil karena gas yang keluar dari perut bumi itu langsung terbakar. Walau terkena hujan pun, apinya tidak mati.

Lubang api raksasa itu kelihatan dari kejauhan karena berada di daratan tandus yang luas. Bila malam, tampak semakin jelas dengan sorotan cahaya kekuningan yang bersumber dari “pintu neraka” itu.

Mirip dengan Lumpur Lapindo, yang terus mengeluarkan lumpur panas gara-gara pengeboran yang dinilai gagal sehingga menyembur ke permukaan bumi. Hingga kini juga belum ada ahli geologi yang mampu menghentikan semburan lumpur panas lapindo. Yang bisa dilakukan hanya membatasi agar area efek lumpur panas itu tidak terus melebar.

Aim

To discover the chemical reactions of acids and bases

Instruments and materials

  1. Baking soda
  2. Lemon juice or orange juice
  3. Vinegar
  4. Small bottles
  5. A spoon
  6. Small plates
  7. Sands or soils or plasticines

Steps

  1. Prepare two small bottles. Fill the first bottle with vinegar and the second bottle with lemon juice or orange.
  2. Put the first bottle on the plate and cover it with sands or soils or plasticines so that it looks like a mountain. Make sure that the bottle’s mouth is not covered by the sands/soils/plasticines.
  3. Put a spoonful of baking soda into the bottle. Observe what happens.
  4. Do the same with the second bottle. Observe and compare the bubbles formed by the treatment to the first bottle.

Questions

  1. Which of the materials used in the experiment that is considered acidic and basic?
  2. What are the reactions between vinegar & soda, and lemon juice & soda?

Virtual Villagers 4 – Solve All Puzzles

1. THE CUTTING TOOL
Create a fire (put a villager on dry wood and grass as seen in the tutorial) and then put on on the dead fish.The villager will do the rest.

2. THE GRAND FEAST
You need fresh water (boiling) – 3 different herbs – blackberries – tree fruit – fish – mushroom – two plates of food from the storage hut

3. MAKING CLOTHES
You must build the cloth hut (science level 2). Then you cook a stew with add salt water (boiling) and the pulp vine. The pulpy vines are to the left of the longer bridge, above the fire.

When it’s done, place a villager on it (the stew), and your villager will take and put the stew on the rock (need 10x). To make clothes, you have prepared it ten times. The cloth is placed in the clothes hut.

4. CATCH A FISH
When clothes ready, place a farmer on the hunt clothes, and he will take the cloth and make a net to catch the fish. about 8 cloths needed for the 2 nets

5. THE MOSSY ROCKS
When your fishing nets are complete, fast running red crabs will start to appear on the north end of the beach. They will pop out of the sand, run down a bit and then disappear again.

As soon as you see a crab, hit the spacebar to pause the game. Then go and find two children and drop them on the crab. Then hit the spacebar again to un-pause the game. The children will “distract the crab”. While they are distracting the crab, drop an adult on the crab and they will pick it up and carry it to the mossy rocks at the base of the pond. Do this five times to clear each of the rocks.

6. THE STREAM
There’s a block in the north.Some builders will be needed, and when the work is finished you’ll receive an award/trophy (Plumber). Later with learning l.3 put a villager in the rock east north and let him/her go.

7. BOLING WATER
There are some bows at the north and east, use any of them. Put a rock located west of food bin at the fire and when it’s heated (color red) put a villager.

8. SOAP INVENTED
Boiling salt water and use 3 soapy-smelling plant.

9. THE BUTTERFLIES
After a while since you made the puzzle 2 a plant near the blackberries will heal. you’ll need a cutting tool then the villager will be “covered by plant juice” so slowy move him/her to the tree of life.

10. THE FROG RESCUE
When raining quickly put a villagers on the soap, he/she will carry it to the pond. Put some (at least 6) villager in the pond until he/she returns clean (i.e. shining) and put them in the little pond north east the food bin and they will carry some frogs to the tree.

11. COOKING PIT
In the south west part there is rubble. Clean it. Then put hot rock on it (4 rocks and must be done fast). And then, put a villager in the palm tree and eventually the puzzle will be finished

12. NURSERY SCHOOL
You need buy level 3 learning, it will appear a nurcery. Build it. Then with a villager (minimize with one mastered and two in the adept level) on it and the puzzle is solved.

13. PRUIRING THE TREE
It requires level 2 dendrology. You will need cloth, soap and a cutting tool. Drag a villager to the tree and drop them on the sick branch. You may have to try a few times in various spots for it to “catch”. They will get some cloth to bind the tree. Once the tree is bound, drag someone to the cutting tools and they will cut off the sick branch. Finally, drag them onto the soap and they will clean the cut.

14. HONORING THE TREE
This puzzle requires at least 20 villagers. Make a special stew that make from: fresh water, sweet plant + sweet plant + sweet plant + something nutritious ( I adding the stew with 2 food from food bin). When the stew ready, drop every single villager (adult and child) on the stew to eat it (at least 20 villagers). Once they do, they’ll take stew to the tree and honor the tree.

15. DECORATE THE TREE!

Requires: 3 bolts of cloth, hummingbirds, healthy tree, several children. In the lab, below the main table, are three boxes with old braids in them. Drop an adult onto one of the boxes. The adult will take the braid out to the stone where they manufacture cloth. Once the braid is laid out drop an adult on the braid. The adult will go get cloth to repair the braid.

When the braid is repaired you need to wait for a hummingbird to show up (hummingbirds will appear when the tree is three steps above nearly dead). When a hummingbird appears, follow it and see which flower it sets down on. When the hummingbird flies away, find the nearest child and drop it on the flower. Keep dropping the child until it plucks the flower. Once it does, find more children and drop them on the flower (6 in all). You have to move fast, while the flower is still good. The children will carry the flowers to the braid and start making the lei. The sixth child will add a flower, then take the garland and decorate the tree. Repeat the entire process (braid, repair, hummingbird, flowers) two more times for a total of three garlands.
